Wolves avoided an FA Cup giant killing away at non-league Chorley on Friday night as Vitinha’s first half strike clinched a vital 1-0 win.
The National League North side were the lowest ranked team left in the competition and they looked to carry the challenge to Wolves early on.
Elliot Newby and Willem Tomlinson both tested stand in keeper John Ruddy in the opening quarter before Portuguese star Vitinha showed that touch of Premier League clash as he smashed home his first ever Wolves goal.
But Chorley were not about to give up on their dream spot in the fifth round place as Tomlinson volleyed wide before the break.
And the hosts continued to boss things again after the restart as the busy Ruddy tipped over Andy Halls’ header.
But as hard Jamie Vermiglio’s hosts tried in the final stages they couldn’t force that crucial equaliser.
