Wolves’ upturn in Premier League form has continued this weekend as they pulled off a tight 1-0 win at home to Leeds.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were left frustrated at full time, but on a night of missed chances, it was to be Illan Meslier’s own goal that sealed all three points for the hosts.
Both sides raced out of the blocks at Molineux, as Pedro Neto brought the best out of Meslier, before Rui Patricio produced a smart stop from Pascal Struijk.
However, Wolves did begin to turn the screw before the break, with the busy Meslier twice denying Nelson Semedo.
And that little window of opportunity kept Leeds in it after the break as skipper Liam Cooper’s header was kept out by superb Patricio stop.
And it was that missed chance that caused a reaction in Wolves as Santo’s side conjured up a fortunate opener.
Adama Traore did brilliantly to wrestle away from two Leeds challenges on the edge of the box and his firecracker of an effort came back off the bar.
But with Meslier well beaten the strike he could only watch on as the ball rebounded off him and in.
The visitors could and should have snatched an equaliser late on, but Patricio was there again to deny Helder Costa in added time.
