Arsenal have confirmed a deadline departure for Brazilian superstar Willian as the veteran winger leaves on a free transfer from the Emirates Stadium.

33-year-old Willian joined Mikel Arteta’s ranks at the back end of last season, following on from his release from Chelsea, with the former Shakhtar man signing a three-year deal in North London.

However, after a completely underwhelming first season with Arteta, the Gunners confirmed earlier this month that he was free to leave the club.

Despite no significant pressure to head for the exit door, Willian has taken the bold move to tear up his contract, and move away from the club two years than planned.

The move is expected to save Arsenal an estimated £20m as Willian returning to former club Corinthians this week, on an 18-month contract.
