West Ham’s Champions League hopes have taken another bash this weekend as the Hammers slipped to a late 1-1 draw at Brighton.
David Moyes’ side end the weekend outside the Top Four with Liverpool now poised to challenge Leicester and Chelsea in the final week.
Neither side created much in a flat start on the south coast with Tomas Soucek’s long range strike the only real effort before the break.
And with West Ham unable to step it up a gear after the restart, it was Brighton who carried the threat as Neal Maupay flashed one just wide.
And that greater spell of pressure did pay off for Brighton in closing stages as Danny Welbeck raced onto Percy Tau’s pass to flash one past Lukasz Fabianksi.
But fair play to the Hammers they refused to give it up in the final minutes as substitute Said Benrahma bent home a crucial equaliser.
Full Time from the AMEX Stadium it’s Brighton 1 West Ham 1
