Liverpool fans were treated to the welcome sight of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez back in action last night.

The Reds Premier League title defence was derailed at the end of 2020 as their first-choice defensive pair were ruled out with knee injuries.

After making the decision to miss Euro 2020 both players have been given a longer rehab slot to prepare for the upcoming campaign.

Jurgen Klopp brought them both on as late substitutes during the warm up clash with Hertha Berlin out in Austria.

But it wasn’t to be all plain sailing on the night as van Dijk’s rustiness was caught out and Hertha clinched a shock 4-3 win.
