Runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City have suffered just their second defeat of 2021 as Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds snatched a shock 2-1 win at the Etihad.
Stuart Dallas was the hero for Bielsa as the Whites move close to confirming Premier League safety and City prove they are mortal after all.
City struggled to get into gear before the break with Raheem Sterling’s effort easily stopped by Illan Meslier and Liam Cooper blocking from Ferran Torres.
And with City unable to make any inroads the game was flipped on its head just before the break.
Raphinha’s cross was helped on by Patrick Bamford inside the box and Dallas smashed home past Ederson.
However, that boost was short lived as skipper Cooper was sent off for a dangerous lunge at Gabriel Jesus.
And with a man advantage after the restart City did look to turn the screw as Oleksandr Zinchenko tested Meslier and Bernardo Silva lashed one just wide.
But despite Leeds’ best efforts to slam the door at the back, City’s quality eventually told in the final stages.
Fernandinho’s through ball released Silva in behind in the Leeds backline and his square ball was hammered home by Torres.
However, on crazy day in Manchester this clash tipped back in Leeds favour in added time as Northern Ireland international Dallas snatched it.
Ezgjan Alioski’s hopeful pass dropped perfectly for him on the break and the fans favourite kept his head to bury the winner.
Full Time from the Etihad Stadium it’s Manchester City 1 Leeds United 2
