Transfer Update: West Ham look to boost striker options and Upamecano staying in Germany?

The much-discussed future of Dayot Upamecano became a little clearer this week and it looks like the French centre-back won’t be going anywhere. The player can leave RB Leipzig in the summer but that won’t likely happen any sooner with The Guardian claiming the German club slapping a £37.5million price tag on the international to ward off interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.

West Ham fans will have watched with dismay as recently departed frontman Sebastian Haller scored one and made one on his Ajax debut but will have been cheered slightly by news or a potential replacement. A few names have been linked with a move to East London to bolster David Moyes attacking options and it now appears that Reims 24-year-old Senegal International Boulaye Dia is top of that list. The player has netted 12 times in 17 starts this season and could prove a snip if the £15million fee quoted by Eurosport is accurate.

Bournemouth starlet David Brooks could be on his way back to the Premier League according to Talk Sport. The Welsh Winger was one of the few highlights of Bournemouth’s relegation season and is interesting Dean Smith at Aston Villa this window. However, he is seen as a key part of the Cherries promotion push and its understood it would take a very large bid for them to consider selling.

According to goal Eric Garcia has decided his future is NOT at the Etihad stadium. The 20-year-old defender has agreed personal terms with Catalan giants Barcelona about a move this summer but a deal between the Spanish club and Manchester City is still some way off.

Everton fans may be left a little disappointed with their transfer dealings this window with the Liverpool Echo reporting that there will be no incomings this month. Director of football Marcel Brand is, understandably, more interested in cutting the bloated playing squad than strengthening Carlos Ancolottis team meaning the Toffee’s may have to wait until the summer before recruiting serious completion for Dominic Calvert Lewin upfront.
