Brighton return to Premier League winning ways with 1-0 win at Leeds

Graham Potter’s side have avoided sliding into the relegation zone, thanks to Neil Maupay’s first half strike, as Leeds lost at home for the first time since December.

It was Brighton who were quicker out of the blocks than their hosts at Elland Road as Maupay deservedly slotted in front on 17 minutes.

The Seagulls burst through Leeds’ midfield on the counter attack, Leandro Trossard’s pass freed Alexis MacAllister inside the box and his square ball was tapped home by Maupay.

Brighton continued to press on from there as Trossard almost made it two as his deflected effort cracked against the bar.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side did come into more after the break though as Liam Cooper and Tyler Roberts tested Robert Sanchez.

However, the expected Leeds avalanche never really got going in the final stages as Brighton powered on to all three points.

Premier League Preview: Leeds United v Wolves

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have impressed on their long-awaited return to the big time and he is expected to only make minimum changes.

Pablo Hernandez and Jack Harrison are both back in action and Bielsa could rotate them in and rest Tyler Roberts and Ezgjan Alioski.

Wolves returned to winning ways before the international break and Nuno Santo will follow Bielsa’s example with limited swaps.

Fernando Marcal is back and could replace Matt Kilman at left back with Adama Traore and Joao Moutinho potentially replacing Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto.

And it set to be a late one on Monday night with an 8pm kick off at Elland Road.
