Jamie Vardy inspires Leicester City to 2-0 win at Tottenham

The Foxes have been pushed to the sidelines in the title conversation in recent weeks but thanks to vintage performance from Jamie Vardy they are now right back in the mix.

The game was billed as a straight shootout between Vardy on the on form Harry Kane but the wily Vardy always look to have his number in North London.

Kane’s free kick on 33 minutes went down as the game first real chance just before Vardy’s whipped effort tested Hugo Lloris.

But the always persistent Vardy was not to be denied before the break as he fired the Foxes in front.
Serge Aurier’s clumsy challenge felled Wesley Fofana inside the box and Vardy stayed true to form and smashed home from the spot.

Leicester looked to have extended their lead immediately after restart as James Maddison clipped home James Justin’s long pass.

But referee Craig Pawson chalked it off for a VAR offside against the England man.

However, Brendan Rodgers’ side didn’t have to wait much longer to make it 2-0 as Toby Alderweireld deflected home Vardy’s header on the hour.

Spurs did look to rally themselves in the final 20 with Son Heung-min bringing an excellent stop from Kasper Schmeichel.

But in the end another bad day at the office means Jose Mourinho’s methods will once come under the microscope.
