Leicester City striker’s deadline day move collapsed over wage demands

The out of favour front man has been at Leicester since 2016, but has been loaned out three times as the Foxes quickly decided he wasn’t what they needed.

The Algerian has been at Newcastle, Fenerbahce and Monaco since signing a five year contract, but none of them have wanted him permanently.

Sporting were interested, but his wages were said to be the main sticking point, with the 6’4 striker on around £60k a week. Slimani was willing to lower his demands, but Sporting, who sold the player to Leicester for £28m, refused the deal.

He has one year left on his contract and is expected to leave again on loan if an English club can be found before the October 16th deadline for domestic deals passes.
