West Ham sign young Danish defender

The 20-year-old centre back will arrive at the London Stadium in January upon the opening of the transfer window, having put pen to paper on a contract until 2024.

Although the news hasn’t been explicitly revealed by Ibsen’s current club Silkeborg IF, a statement from the Danish side – who play in the second tier of the pyramid – suggested that ‘the sale of Frederik Alves Ibsen has come a big step closer’ and that only a work permit and UK residency remains to be sorted.

Ibsen was spotted in London with his agent earlier this week ahead of a proposed medical with the Hammers and it is taken as near enough certain that he will be a West Ham player in 2021.

The young defender is half Brazilian and half Danish, but has represented Denmark at age group level and was born in the country.
