The Greek stopper, who has 6 caps for his country, has impressed between the sticks this season for Benfica, who finished second in the 2019/20 Portuguese top flight.
That led to him catching the eye of Newcastle United, but now the Magpies have cooled their interest in the 26-year-old significantly.
This is no doubt down to the collapse of the proposed takeover of Newcastle by a Saudi-backed consortium last week.
Odisseas – who was born in Germany but represents Greece – embodies an interesting transfer target for the Toon, who already have a more than capable goalkeeper in Martin Dubravka.
Dubravka was one of Newcastle’s star players in 2019/20, winning the club’s player of the season award.
Although a swoop for Odisseas is now over according to Portuguese publication O Jogo, the fact Steve Bruce was said to be considering a move for a goalkeeper may raise questions over Dubravka’s St James’ Park future.
