West Ham fans delighted as Roberto nears London Stadium exit

The Spanish stopper is said to be close to completing a switch to the La Liga side according to newspaper the Guardian.

Roberto spent the second half of the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Alaves in Spain’s top flight, after a disastrous start to the season between the sticks for West Ham.

After Lukasz Fabianski’s injury, then-Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini turned to the 34-year-old to deputise – and it backfired horrifically, with Roberto shipping 21 goals in just 10 games for the club, mustering a single clean sheet.

Things weren’t much better post January, either, with new boss David Moyes immediately loaning Roberto, where he shelled 19 times in just 9 appearances as Alaves narrowly avoided relegation from La Liga.

Now Roberto’s time at West Ham appears to be coming to an end, much to the delight of many a Hammers fan on social media, who appear to be glad to see the back of arguably their worst goalkeeper in recent memory.

If things weren’t bad enough for poor old Roberto, some Irons supporters are revelling in the fact that West Ham somehow look set to make a profit on his departure.

After arriving at the London Stadium for free, Real Vallodolid are close to parting with actual cash to complete the deal.

Incredible.

Southampton set to unveil Mohammed Salisu

Diario de Valladolid, a Spanish news outlet covering the La Liga club, say that Salisu is ‘already a Southampton player’ with Saints having triggered his €12m release clause.

This is yet to be confirmed at St Mary’s – however, due to Covid-19, any arrivals in to the UK from Spain must currently self-isolate for a 14-day period upon touching down in the country, perhaps delaying any such announcement.

The 21-year-old centre back stands at an imposing 6’3”, with newspaper The Guardian claiming Salisu has already passed his Saints medical – and if you needed any further convincing that he will be joining Southampton, one of Salisu’s family members went as far as to confirm it on Ghanaian radio at the weekend.

Manchester City to sell Pedro Porro

The defender – who hasn’t played a single game for City’s first team – arrived at the Etihad from Spanish side Girona last summer for €12m.

After spending the 2019/20 season on loan in La Liga at Real Valladolid, it now appears that the 20-year-old could be on his way out of Manchester City permanently if Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon activate his €8.5m release clause.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, City and Sporting enjoy a healthy relationship and the two sides have reached a ‘total agreement’ for the player on a two-year loan deal with an option to buy, despite him not having played a single competitive match for Pep Guardiola’s side.
