Aguero out of Champions League, Silva heading for Rome

Manchester City will have to plan without Sergio Aguero as they look to win the Champions League.

Aguero has not lost hope of being fit in time to play but Pep Guardiola will have to plan without him with Gabriel Jesus as the main striker.

Jesus has started all but one match since Aguero got injured – and after failing to score in his first six appearances since the lockdown he has scored five goals in his last seven starts – including the winner against Real Madrid last week.

And while the papers continue to link City to many different potential signings, there are two all but confirmed departures to report.

Once the season ends after the champions league, Claudio Bravo will be on his way to join former City Manager Manuel Pellegrini at Real Betis.

Meanwhile Lazio are completing the final details before making the signing of David Silva official. The Spanish midfielder is reported to be signing a three-year deal with the Serie A club within the coming days. On behalf of City fans everywhere, we thank you.

Liverpool close in on centre back capture

The Algerian centre back notched 30 appearances for La Liga club Betis this season, and is soon to be on his way to Anfield according to reports.

Ex-Algeria international and TV pundit Hafid Derradji claims on Twitter that “Issa Mandi, Spain’s Betis player is close to signing for Liverpool FC. Little details prevent this so far.”

Betis have recently appointed former West Ham and Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager, and the Chilean may well allow Mandi a move to the Premier League to bring in some funds for a squad reconstruction in Seville.

Following Dejan Lovren’s Liverpool exit to Zenit St Petersburg, it is likely Jurgen Klopp will move for a new centre back.
