Leeds United get back on track with brilliant 1-0 Premier League win at Everton

Marcelo Bielsa’s side landed on Merseyside without a win in over a month, but a first club goal for Brazilian Raphinha sees them right back on track.

Both teams were quick out of the blocks at Goodison, with Raphinha and Jack Harrison wasting excellent early chances and Abdoulaye Doucoure testing Illian Meslier.

But it was Leeds that dominated things before the break, with Ben Godfrey clearing Harrison’s effort off the line before the Manchester City loanee powered a header off the post.

The pattern of chance after chance continued at a frantic pace after the restart as man of the moment Dominic Calvert-Lewin forced a fine stop from Meslier.

With the game swinging from end to end in the final stages, it was Leeds that looked the most likely to find that all important breakthrough.

Everton had looked to have done enough to weather the West Yorkshire storm late on but a moment of magic from Raphinha settled it for Bielsa.

Harrison found him in space on the edge of the box and a quick shift of the hips created the perfect as he slammed home past a helpless Jordan Pickford.
