Sean Raggett departs Norwich for League One challenge

The centre back has signed a two-year deal at Pompey, where he spent last season on loan.

After a patchy start, the 26-year-old established himself as a regular in Kenny Jackett’s side who were beaten on penalties by Oxford in the playoff semi finals last month.

Raggett arrived at Norwich in 2017 after signing from Lincoln City, and leaves the Canaries having played 2 league games for the club.

Brighton boss faces Matt Clarke conundrum

Clarke, who signed for Albion last summer from Portsmouth, spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Championship side Derby County.

The left footed centre back, who is cultured on the ball and dominant in the air, scooped Derby’s player of the season award over the weekend, making it his third such accolade on the spin after picking up the same trophy at Pompey in the previous two campaigns.

Clarke’s consistent form will leave Brighton gaffer Graham Potter needing to weigh up whether the 23-year-old has merited a place in his Premier League squad for next season, or whether he should spend another season on loan.

Undoubtedly, there will be plenty of interest in the defender’s services if a loan move is to be the way forward.

However, Clarke’s solid showing this season in an albeit lacklustre Derby side has arguably earned him the chance to prove himself in the top flight.
