Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may opt against including Paul Pogba in his matchday squad for the crunch Champions League group stage game at RB Leipzig on Tuesday

United need a draw or a win against Leipzig to qualify for the last 16 of this season’s competition, but the German side are also in with a shout of progressing.

The Bundesliga club are level on points with both the Red Devils and PSG in a fascinating Group H equation.

However, Manchester United’s Paul Pogba may not be a part of the matchday squad for the showdown with Leipzig.

The Frenchman has travelled to Germany for the game, but after recent comments made by his agent Mino Raiola, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may feel the right option is to leave Pogba out.

Raiola, who is known as a ‘super agent’ and has clients such as Erling Haaland and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his stable, was speaking to Italian outlet Tuttosport and claimed:

“Paul is unhappy at Man Utd.

“He needs to change team, he needs a change of scenery.”

Raiola also said that Pogba doesn’t intend to extend his stay at Old Trafford – his current contract expires in the summer of 2022 – and claimed a transfer in the next summer window is the best outcome for all parties.

Furthermore, there were even suggestions that the Frenchman’s United career is “over”, as well as shots fired at Solskjaer’s management of the player.

With such an important Champions League game on Tuesday, as well as the Manchester derby in the Premier League at the weekend, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a big decision to make as to whether to involve a player whose agent has landed the club some seriously unwanted PR – as well as taking a few swipes at the Norwegian’s managerial ability as well.

Paul Pogba staying put at Manchester United

The World Cup winner endured a difficult 2019-20 campaign due to injury, but he ended the season strongly as he helped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to a third-placed finish in the Premier League.

And his agent Mino Raiola says United will not accept any bids for the player this summer.

He told Sky Sports Italy: “Pogba is key player for Man United, they’ve an important project and he’s 100 per cent included.

“Man United will not accept any bid this summer to sell Pogba. We’re going to speak about a new contract soon, no stress…”

Pogba, whose current deal runs until next summer, last month revealed his desire to win more trophies at Old Trafford.

United have since been beaten in the semi-finals of both the FA Cup and the Europa League, but are back in the Champions League next season thanks to their impressive form following the resumption of the Premier League.

Pogba has won only the Europa League and EFL Cup since returning to United from Juventus in 2016.
