With Bale now confirmed as a Tottenham player, Kane and Son offered a reminder of what they can do, as Kane laid on an outrageous four goals for the South Korean.
Southampton were impressive in patches in their first home game of the campaign, and despite Danny Ings’ brilliant opener, they, like the rest of us could only watch on as Kane and Son turned on style.
Despite being brushed aside after the break, the Saints were the better team in the first half, as Ings’ instinctive finish put them in front on the half hour.
But, despite being second best for much first 45 minutes, Son stole in front of his man to level things up just before the break.
That goal proved to a turning point in the game, as the pair ran riot after the restart.
Son made it 2-0 on 48 minutes, as Kane slipped him in behind the Saints defence, before completing his hat trick on the hour from yep…….you guessed it, another Kane pass.
With the tie now over as a contest, Mourinho’s side refused to slow down, and Son grabbed his fourth of the match on 74 minutes.
But with neither side in the mood to stop the final stages, Kane finally got himself on the scoresheet with ten minutes to play.
His old mate Son freed Erik Lamela inside the box, and after his strike came back off the post, Kane finally grabbed his deserved goal.
Ings buried a second goal from the penalty spot in added time, but incredibly, despite scoring twice at home, nothing could distract from Spurs’ deadly duo.
