A petition to free Ben White from Brighton has appeared online

The defender, whose loan spell at Elland Road came to a close at the end of last season, has been linked with a move away to several clubs including Leeds, and Liverpool as clubs jockey to secure his signature.

An account called NothingButLUFC has created an online petition with the message:
“Sign this to #FreeBenWhite from the shackles of Brighton & Hove Albion to join Leeds United.”

White has become a favourite amongst Leeds fans who are desperate to bring him back to what his ‘new home’ at Elland Road.

FreeBenWhite.com has been set up with a simple message that says “No. Ben White is not free yet.”

More than 10,000 fans have thrown their support behind the campaign. But it will take more than just fans and retweets – Brighton have already turned down two offers for White from Leeds United of £18.5m and £22m for the player.

Brighton boss faces Matt Clarke conundrum

Clarke, who signed for Albion last summer from Portsmouth, spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Championship side Derby County.

The left footed centre back, who is cultured on the ball and dominant in the air, scooped Derby’s player of the season award over the weekend, making it his third such accolade on the spin after picking up the same trophy at Pompey in the previous two campaigns.

Clarke’s consistent form will leave Brighton gaffer Graham Potter needing to weigh up whether the 23-year-old has merited a place in his Premier League squad for next season, or whether he should spend another season on loan.

Undoubtedly, there will be plenty of interest in the defender’s services if a loan move is to be the way forward.

However, Clarke’s solid showing this season in an albeit lacklustre Derby side has arguably earned him the chance to prove himself in the top flight.
