Son Heung-min and Harry Kane combine again as Tottenham battle past Burnley.

Normal service has been resumed this weekend it was no different as Tottenham earned a hard fought win against Burnley at Turf Moor.

It wasn’t easy or pretty but Jose Mourinho will be the happier of two managers after a win which sees his team up to fifth whilst Sean Dyche will have another week of sleepless nights having failed to build on the single point his team have picked up so far this season.

It was Son Heung-min who continued his fantastic start to the season and secured the win for Tottenham just moments after Harry Kane had cleared off his own line to deny Burnley defender James Tarkowski. The England captain then contributed at the other end of the pitch providing the assist for Son who grabbed his 8th Premier League goal of the season.

Despite the prolific pairing of Kane and Son however Spurs failed to register a single shot on target in the first half with Tottenham’s possession coming to nothing in the face of a classically stoic Burnley defence.

It was the Clarets who thought they had struck first on the 38th minute when Ashley Barnes had the ball in the net but he had strayed a couple of yards offside ruling out not only the goal but the games first meaningful chance.

Ashley Westwood and Joan Berg Gudmundsson did force Hugo Lloris into low saves but in reality neither was a real test for the Frenchman and it wasn’t until the last 20 mins that the game burst into life.

Tarkowski rose highest to meet Westwood’s corner but Harry Kane headed off the line to deny Burnley a certain goal then, moments later, Son hesitated after going through, allowing Kevin Long to track back and get a last-ditch tackle in.

But the South Korean would not be denied for a second time after substitute Erik Lamela’s corner was flicked on by Kane towards the back post, where Son was waiting to direct his header expertly into the top corner.

Burnley remain in the relegation zone, Spurs get their first clean sheet of the seasons and Gareth Bale is still waiting for his first start.
