Antonio Conte has kicked off his Premier League return in the least inspiring way possible as Spurs limped to a 0-0 draw at Everton.

Conte has a big task ahead as he aims to gets Tottenham back on track this season but their showing at Everton did little to inspire any early confidence.

Spurs did just about shade a busy opening 45 in this one with Sergio Reguilon ballooning over from Harry Kane’s whipped cross.

However, despite struggling to get a grip before the break, Everton did carve out the best chance after the restart.

Richarlison was sent tumbling inside the box after colliding with Hugo Lloris but after a long long VAR check, referee Chris Kavanagh opted for no penalty.

Spurs did almost nick in style in the final minutes, as Giovani Lo Celso crashed done against Jordan Pickford post, before a poor afternoon was wrapped up with a late red for Mason Holgate.
