Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is attracting Premier League interest, according to journalist Duncan Castles.

Speaking on The Transfer Window podcast, Castles claims the midfielder is wanted by Jose Mourinho at Tottenham.

Last week, Saints boss Ralph Hassenhuttl stripped the Dane of the Southampton captaincy after he made comments about not wanting to fight relegation every season and wanting to play for a club in European competition.

Spurs would tick both those boxes if they can qualify for Europe this season, and with Jose Mourinho shuffling his squad to suit his needs, it could be a move that makes everyone happy.

It’s rumoured that Tottenham don’t have a big transfer budget for the upcoming season, so the bid for Hojbjerg is cash plus players, who weren’t named by Castles.

Using logic, one may be Kyle Walker-Peters, who is on loan at St Mary’s from Spurs, with any others a mystery to all.
