Southampton’s winless start to the season continued this weekend as the Saints limped to a 0-0 draw at home to West Ham.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side struggled to make any inroads against the Hammers as the home side look to ignite their campaign this month.
Southampton looked to edge the first half against their jaded visitors with Moussa Djenepo’s chip deflected wide.
But David Moyes’ half-time message did look to wake the visitors up after the restart as Tomas Soucek failed to nod home Aaron Cresswell’s corner.
However, despite their rally, it was Southampton that could and should have won it late on, as substitute Armando Broja struck a post and Declan Rice hacked away the Albanian’s towering header.
And with Moyes’ side clinging on in the final seconds star man Michail Antonio was sent off for a high boot on Djenepo.
