Southampton skipper James Ward-Prowse has penned a new five-year deal at the St. Mary’s Stadium.

The England international was named as captain last season, as the recently departed Pierre-Emile Hobjberg was demoted ahead of his move to Tottenham.

Ward-Prowse came through the Saints youth ranks, before making his first team debut in 2011.

He has since gone on to make 232 league appearances at his boyhood club, placing fifth on their all time Premier League list, just behind club legends Matt Le Tissier and Francis Benali.
