Southampton have opened preliminary contract talks with star man Danny Ings, according to Sky Sports.
Ings was the Saints standout performer last season, with 22 Premier League goals in 2019-20.
That hot streak from the former Liverpool man pushed Southampton to the brink of a European spot, and the club are determined to tie him down long term.
Ings has two years left on his current deal on the south coast, but at 28, Southampton will be aware he could be tempted to leave after reigniting his career.
The former Burnley man suffered two potential career ending injuries during his at Anfield, but his form at the St. Mary’s Stadium has put him back on the radar of some of the Premier League’s big hitters.
