Southampton were forced to battle for the FA Cup Fourth Round spot this weekend as they secured an extra time 3-2 win over Swansea.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side needed an extra 30 minutes to seal their passage as Swansea came within minutes of a Premier League upset.

The Saints made a positive start in South Wales with Nathan Tella slipping in Nathan Redmond inside the first ten minutes.

But the early dismissal of Yann Valery put them on the back foot as Swansea came strong in the second period.

Joel Piroe’s strike forced extra time before Jan Bednarek’s own goal gave them the lead.

However, Hassenhuttl’s side kept the cool in the final minutes as Mohammed Elyounoussi hauled them level and Shane Long popped up to win it.
