Southampton have shown their desire to end the season on a high as they picked up a 3-1 win at home to relegated Fulham.

The Saints have already sealed their own safety this season but Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side showed no mercy against the Cottagers.

Neither side created much early on but it was the home side who grabbed the first chance to edge in front.

James Ward-Prowse’s free kick was flicked on Danny Ings and Che Adams reacted smartly to stab home.

And it was the Saints who continued to boss things again after the restart as Ings released Nathan Redmond in behind but Alphonse Areola flew out to make the block.

But with Fulham unable to lay a glove on them, Nathan Tella smashed home Kyle Walker-Peters’ cross to deservedly put them 2-0 up.

Teenage star Fabio Carvalho did bury fantastic Premier League goal to spark some life into Fulham late on but substitute Theo Walcott’s deflected ended any chances of Fulham fight back.

Full Time from the St. Mary’s Stadium it’s Southampton 3 Fulham 1
