Sheffield United’s Europa League hopes have been given a massive boost, as the Blades cruised to a 3-0 win at home to Chelsea.

The win pushes Chris Wilder’s side up to 6th in the table, as David McGoldrick netted his first Premier League goal of the season, as Chelsea’s own Champions League hopes suffer a blow.

The Blades have begun to look like themselves once again in recent weeks, and their high energy start had Chelsea on the back foot.

United striker McGoldrick has endured a frustrating season, despite Wilder’s constant faith in him, and his delight was plain to see as he tucked past Kepa on 18 minutes.

That goal filled the hosts with confidence, and Scottish international Oli McBurnie nodded them 2-0 in front before the break.

Chelsea’s second half rally never really materialised, as Wilder’s side move through the gears after the break.

And with Frank Lampard unable to inject any life into his side late on, a hungry McGoldrick showed his new-found sharpness once again, as he made three goals and three points for Wilder.
