Defence looks in good shape as White saga nears the end

The Seagulls held the Scottish Champions to a nil-nil draw in their own backyard at Ibrox on Saturday.

Steven Gerrard’s side looked the liveliest but they were unable to carve their way through the sturdy Brighton defence.

The strong defensive performance will be some consolation as it looks like the £50 million move of Ben White will finally be completed this week.

Subject to anything untoward appearing in the medical, it’s expected that White will become a Gunner on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old England international defender joined the Seagulls from Southampton in 2014 and has since made 41 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Brighton have inserted a sell-on clause for White, but with just a few weeks to go to the start of the season, excitement is building over where Potter might spend some of that huge cash injection.
