Could Billy Gilmour be heading to the midlands for more game time?

There are more rumours today suggesting that Molineux could be the next step in the development of Chelsea sensation Billy Gilmour.

The twenty year old Scotland international, who earned rave reviews after his man-of-the-match performance against England in the Euro 2020 group stages, has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge and it’s understood the club want to send him out on loan next season in order for him to develop the skills and no doubt push up his transfer value.

With the likes of Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic and Mount, Chelsea aren’t exactly crying out for another midfield talent, meaning Gilmour has struggled to get on the pitch. He made just eight starts in eleven first-team appearances last season. Whereas at Moulineux, he could be guaranteed match time as part of a midfield revamp.

Also in the Midlanders sights is yet another Portuguese international, namely Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palinha. They’d have to spend a lot of money to secure his signature, while Gilmour would be coming on a season long loan, still having two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
