Cristiano always expected he would score on his return

Cristiano Ronaldo told reporters he was “super nervous” before his second Manchester United debut.

After the game he said he didn’t expect to score two goals, however, he did add that he expected to score one.

Those two goals on the day now take him to 120 for Manchester United, the club where he won his first golden boot, his first Balon d’Or, and brought him his first Champions League success.

Old Trafford was filled with a party atmosphere all afternoon as the fans sang his name, and his manager joined in by singing his praises.

With a beaming smile, he said that his return had “allowed the fans to dream again.”

United have only won the league title twice since Ronaldo left in 2009 and now that he’s back if he can put in this kind of performance every week, who would bet against them?
