Chelsea hitman Romelu Lukaku has thanked former club Inter Milan for saving him from Manchester United back in 2019.

The Serie A giants Inter Milan giants swooped for the Belgian in an €80m deal after the striker fell out with former United boss Jose Mourinho.

Lukaku reignited his career in Italy with 64 goals in two years as Inter won their first league title since 2010.

However, his decision to leave the San Siro and return to Chelsea this summer has angered sections of the Inter fan base.

But in an effort to build bridges with fans, Lukaku has thanked the club for digging him out of a hole at United and reviving his potential in Milan.

However despite his admitted fondness for Milan, the departure of Antonio Conte, coupled with the lure of a return to Stamford Bridge, was simply too much to resist.
