Romelu Lukaku has gone some way to paying off the £97m Chelsea spent to bring him back to Stamford Bridge this month.

As the Belgian hitman Romelu Lukaku  netted a return debut goal and bullied the Arsenal backline all afternoon as the Blues clinched a 2-0 win at the Emirates.

All the pre-game news focused on Lukaku’s second coming in West London and Chelsea’s new No.9 took just 15 minutes to remind fans what he’s all about.

Reece James got away down the left of Arsenal’s defence and Lukaku left Pablo Mari for dusted as he buried one past Bernd Leno.

And with the sense of Chelsea just toying with Arsenal before the break the impressive James latched onto Mason Mount’s ball to make it 2-0.

Mikel Arteta’s men did dip their toes into it again after the restart as Bukayo Saka tested Edouard Mendy’s reflexes.

And Arteta continued to try and force a way through with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s arrival causing problems for Chelsea late on but in the end the Gunners were grateful to Leno for keeping Lukaku at bay.

Full Time from the Emirates Stadium it’s Arsenal 0 Chelsea 2
