West Brom have taken another step closer to a Championship return next season as they lost 1-0 at Crystal Palace.

Sam Allardyce’s side end the weekend cut well adrift inside the drop zone as a delighted Palace look to rubber stamped their own safety.

This tie was never going to be a thriller in South London and both sides struggled to make any real impact early on.

But it was Palace that always looked to have that slight edge before the break as Luka Milivojevic tested Sam Johnstone before the Serbian star finally found the breakthrough.

Darnell Furlong’s swinging arm caught Wilf Zaha’s cross inside the box and Milivojevic emphatically tucked home from the spot.

That strike served to shake Palace into life after the break as Johnstone superbly denied Christian Benteke and Eberechi Eze.

The Baggies did almost carve out one late chance to equalise but Mbaye Diagne’s header bounced well wide.

Full Time from Selhurst Park it’s Crystal Palace 1 West Brom 0
