Sheffield United have bowed out of the Premier League on a high as David McGoldrick’s goal secured a 1-0 final day win over Burnley.

The Blades fate was confirmed weeks ago but their spirited response in the final weeks will give fans real cause for optimism this summer.

Sean Dyche’s side did look bright in the early stages as Johan Gudmundsson and Dwight McNeil both tested Aaron Ramsdale.

But it was to be McGoldrick who made the difference as Irishman drove onto Enda Stevens’ pass and buried brilliant finish.

Both sides did look to slug it out again the break as Clarets star James Tarkowski nodded one just wide.

But in the end it was to be a spark of final day positivity for the Blades.

Full Time from Bramall Lane it’s Sheffield United 1 Burnley 0
