Raul Jimenez is back in business and Wolves have their second win of the campaign as Bruno Lage’s side picked up a 1-0 victory away at Southampton.
Neutrals and Wolves fans have been praying for Raul Jimenez to get back amongst the goals, after spending almost a year on the sidelines, and their calls for goals were finally answered during their trip to Southampton.
Both sides were full of zip and pressure early on, but with a lack of final third pressure on display, chances were at a premium before the break.
Neither boss opted to make a change at the interval but it was Southampton that initially shook into life.
Valentino Livramento was handed the freedom of the Wolves box, but Jose Sa’s reflexes kept him, before the Portuguese stopper reacted smartly to block Che Adams from the follow up.
But in a game that was always going to be settled by a single goal it was Jimenez would provide the key difference.
Sa’s long ball created problems at the back for the Saints and Jimenez bounced away from two tackles to tuck home the vital winner.
It was the Mexican’s first goal in just under a year following his horrific head injury last season against Arsenal
