Elland Road was dancing to a Samba beat on a wet Tuesday night as Brazilian star Raphinha sealed a crucial 1-0 Leeds win over Crystal Palace.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side have endured an indifferent run in recent weeks and they look set for another frustrating night before Raphinha’s late late intervention against Crystal Palace.

But with a passionate Bielsa roaring them on, Leeds did look dangerous early on, as Adam Forshaw and Kalvin Phillips both lashed wide.

However, with the door left open for Palace after the break, it was Patrick Vieira’s side who edged the second 45.

Christian Benteke missed a golden chance before Illan Meslier sprang to life to superbly deny the Belgian.

But as the clocked ticked into added time, the VAR gods were shining on Leeds as Liam Cooper’s header
struck Marc Guehi’s hand.

And as Elland Road held it’s breath Raphinha was the calmest man in Yorkshire as he buried the winner from the spot.

Full Time from Elland Road it’s Leeds United 1-0 Crystal Palace
