It’s three games and seven points for Rafa Benitez on his return to Merseyside this season as his Everton side signed off the month with a 2-0 win at Brighton.
Everton have looked re-energised in the opening weeks of the campaign and goals from Demarai Gray and Dominic Calvert-Lewin secured them another valuable three points on the south coast.
Both sides showed plenty of hustle and battle in the opening stages but it took a moment of real quality just before the break as Everton edged themselves 1-0 in front.
Allan’s quick ball released Demarai Gray in space in midfield and the former Leicester City man eased on his way past Adam Webster to smash a fantastic strike past Robert Sanchez.
But despite Brighton inevitably showing some signs of life after the restart, the visitors stepped it up to wrap this one up just before the hour mark.
Substitute Joel Veltman’s clumsy challenge brought down Seamus Coleman inside the box and despite some spot kick argy bargy with Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin kept his head to bury it from the spot.
Full Time from the AMEX Stadium it’s Brighton 0 Everton 2
