It will be the first time in just under 10 years that Burnley will be without Sean Dyce at Turf Moor, as they play Southampton in the Premier League on Thursday.

The Clarets are currently in 18th position while the Saints sit comfortably in 13th place.

It wasn’t quite the Thriller at the London Stadium as Michael Jackson took charge, though it was a Bad start as Wout Weghorst headed home in the second half.

Tomas Soucek ended the short-lived lead just 15 minutes later to seal a point each for both sides.

It marks Burnley’s 13th draw in the Premier League – the most of any side – and now leaves them four points off Everton with just seven games to go.

Victory against Southampton would see them move to just a point behind Frank Lampard’s side who have Liverpool and Chelsea in their next two fixtures.

After a poor month which saw a return of five defeats, Hasenhuttl’s side produced a fine performance against top four challengers Arsenal at the Emirates stadium.

It was Jan Bednarek who scored the only goal of the match which sealed all three points, and moves his side into 13th position, with a point separating them from Brighton in 10th.

The Saints were beaten 6-0 in their last home fixture against Chelsea, though the victory over Arsenal should give them a much-needed boost going into their clash with the Clarets.

Team news

Burnley’s Ashley Westwood will be out for the rest of the season after suffering a broken ankle during their match against West Ham.

It means Josh Brownhill will likely replace his teammate in midfield alongside Jack Cork.

As for Southampton, it’s only one injury concern for them as goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is set to miss out with a hamstring issue.

Southampton vs Burnley – kick off at 7:45pm (UK time) on Thursday 21st April 2022
