Leicester City conclude the Premier League season at home as Southampton are the visitors on Sunday afternoon.
After a 5th place finish in the previous 2 seasons, this campaign has been disappointing for Leicester by their recent high standards. A combination of injuries and defensive fragility have contributed to a finish outside of the European places this term, ahead of their match with Southampton.
That being said, a top 10 finish is still attainable for Brendan Rodgers’ side should they beat Southampton at King Power stadium.
Despite disappointing domestic form, the Foxes did reach a semi-final in Europe but fell to defeat against Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.
And Mourinho’s old stomping ground of Stamford Bridge was the venue on Thursday, as Leicester played out a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
James Maddison scored Leicester’s goal, fresh from being crowned the club’s 2021/22 player of the season.
From James to another, Southampton talisman James Ward-Prowse is up for the official Premier League player of the season award.
He has been the only real standout for Saints in a season where they will finish only a jot above the relegation zone.
Leicester may be without James Justin and Youri Tielemans for Sunday, as both face a late fitness test – speculation over Tielemans future has increased in recent weeks with the Belgian linked to a move away.
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl remains without Perraud, Forster and Livramento for the trip to Leicester.
Leicester v Southampton kicks off at 4pm on Sunday 22nd May.
