West Ham's new signing Jessie Lingard is unlikely to feature for the Hammers as they face last seasons Premier League Champions Liverpool at the London Stadium.

The Manchester United player has joined former manager David Moyes in London on loan after the club tied up a permanent deal for Said Benrahma which freed up a domestic loan spot.

Moyes’ preference to slowly integrate new signings into his starting 11, however, means its unlikely that Lingard will be involved from the start on Sunday.

Neither team would have perhaps expected to be battling it out for 4th place at the start of the season with Liverpool aiming higher and many predicting West Ham to be towards the bottom of the table but whoever takes 3 points from this match will find themselves in those much-coveted Champions League spots.

Liverpool will be keen to build on their win over Tottenham Hotspurs on Thursday night in which they scored their first Premier League goal since December 27th. They still have issues at the back howver, with Jurgen Klopp confirming that Joel Matip now joins Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on the treatment table. That leaves no senior centre backs available for selection. Whilst Fabinho, who has filled in in defence in recent weeks, was also missing against Spurs and will face a late fitness test ahead of the weekend.

For West Ham, they are still without the injured Arthur Masuaku meaning David Moyes will likely favour the 4-1-3-1 formation that has served him well in recent weeks and seen his side win six consecutive matches putting them second in the Premier League form charts behind Manchester City.

Liverpool remains the bookie’s favourites for the match but Happy Hammers will be cautiously optimistic that they can get the better of their Merseyside opponents for the first time in nine meetings.
