Bees sting Hornets late on

Brentford snatched a dramatic win over Watford with a stoppage-time penalty in Friday night’s Premier League match.

In the middle of the first half, Watford took the lead against the run of play when Emmanuel Dennis got ahead of Bees captain Jansson to nod home Tom Cleverley’s corner.

The home side were still behind with just over six minutes remaining but got themselves level when Jansson headed home Janelt’s cross.

And deep into injury time Bees substitute Saman Ghoddos was pulled down in the penalty area.

Regular spot kick taker Ivan Toney wasn’t in the squad after testing positive, but Mbeumo deputised well, burying the spot-kick into the corner.

The result sees Brentford climb up to 9th in the table, and after four defeats on the trot leaves Watford hovering above the dropzone.
