Legendary Captain returns with his Villa side on the up

Former Liverpool Captain Steven Gerrard goes back to Anfield as a manager on Saturday afternoon, to take on Jurgen Klopp’s men with his Aston Villa side.

Villa head into this game on the back of three wins in their first four games under him so far, but Liverpool are in even better form, winning four in a row, and bagging four goals in three of those games.

And that form is reflected in Trent Alexander-Arnold being named as the Premier League’s player of the month. In November the right-back racked up a goal, four assists, and two clean sheets in three games.

In terms of fitness, there are doubts over Diogo Jota, who hasn’t trained all week, while Roberto Firmino could return from a hamstring injury after missing the last seven games.

As for the visitors, both Matt Targett and Danny Ings have been declared fit, after missing the win over Leicester last weekend.
