Manchester United return to league action on Wednesday night, hoping to extend their 13-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.

The last time Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tasted domestic defeat was when Arsenal won at Old Trafford at the start of November, a defeat which sparked a run that has them sitting top of the league as January draws to a close.

However there’s no time for complacency for United, with rivals Man City just two points behind having played a game less in the title race.

If everything’s going perfectly at the top of the league, it’s the opposite for the Blades, who remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just five points after 19 games, 12 points adrift of safety.

Chris Wilder’s side have failed to build on the incredible form they showed at this stage last season, when they sat comfortably in the top half of the table, dreaming of a European finish. This year, ambitions are different, as they hope to beat Derby County’s miserable points tally of just 11 set back in 2009.

In order to stop them doing that, Man United have a mostly fit squad to choose from, with only Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Brandon Williams and Facundo Pellestri unavailable.

Marcus Rashford has been passed fit after a scan revealed no damage to his knee after the Liverpool game, and he will be hoping to repeat the performance he put in against the Blades earlier this season, as he scored twice in a 3-2 win at Bramall Lane.

Goals are a feature of this fixture, with the sides sharing 14 in the games since Sheffield United were promoted back to the top flight.

One of those sources for the Blades is Lys Mousset, but the Frenchman faces a late fitness test after struggling with a knock recently. Club record signing Sander Berge is missing, as are Jack O’Connell, Oli McBurnie, Jack Robison and Ben Osborn, while John Egan is suspended.

Man United take on Sheffield United at Old Trafford on Wednesday, January 27th. Kick-off is at 8.15pm.
