Leicester City will try and extend their perfect start to the Premier League season as West Ham United visit the King Power Stadium on Sunday lunchtime.
The Foxes are top of the table after winning all three league games this season, with Jamie Vardy netting five goals already as he looks to win back-to-back Golden Boot awards.
And it’s been a good week off the pitch for Leicester too, with 19-year-old centre-back Wesley Fofana signing from St. Etienne for a fee that could rise to £30m. He could make the squad this weekend, with Brendan Rodgers speaking of his delight to have captured the in-demand teenager.
Another new signing, Cengiz Under, could also be included in the squad to face the Hammers after training with the club all week following a loan move from Roma. Rodgers spoke of the Turk’s quality in his press conference on Friday, and suggested he would be included on the bench.
As for West Ham, they’ll be hoping to build on their first win of the season last week as they hammered Wolves 4-0 at the London Stadium. Manager David Moyes was not on the touchline for that game as he quarantines after contracting coronavirus, and likely won’t be for the trip to Leicester.
Alan Irvine confirmed Moyes is feeling fine but hasn’t been back at the club this week, as he continues to follow protocol. Issa Diop and Josh Cullen also contracted the virus around the same time as their manager, but have been back in training this week.
Right-back Ryan Fredericks is set to miss out with a hamstring injury, so that could mean a debut for new signing Vladimir Coufal, who joined the club on Friday from Slavia Prague. The 28-year-old Czech international is a former team mate of Tomas Soucek, and has eight international caps to his name.
Leicester City vs West Ham at the King Power Stadium kicks off on Sunday, October 4th at 12pm.
