Crystal Palace will look to return to winning ways on Saturday when they entertain an Aston Villa side still searching for a top half Premier League finish.
Palace were soundly beaten by Southampton in their last top flight fixture, their fourth loss in five Premier League games.
With question marks over how the club will look next season with several players out of contract in the summer – as well as gaffer Roy Hodgson – some may forgive the Eagles for lacking motivation in these final weeks of the campaign.
With Arsenal and Liverpool still to play for the South Londoners, Roy Hodgson will be looking to avoid a repeat of the wretched run of form which ended last season on a sour note.
Their weekend opponents Aston Villa meanwhile may still clinch a top half Premier League finish, an achievement which looked a long way off considering how close the club came to relegation last term.
Villa will need to start winning games to achieve that feat however, something which has been hard to come by of late with just two wins recorded from the last 11 Premier League matches.
Dean Smith’s side will complete their triple-header of games against London opponents as they play Spurs and Chelsea before the season’s end.
A boost for the Villa boss is the return of Jack Grealish, although the talismanic midfielder couldn’t inspire his side to victory against Everton midweek.
The goalless draw at Villa Park against the Toffees will more likely be remembered for both sides sporting the same shirt sponsor rather than the actual action on the pitch.
Ollie Watkins sat out the game with Everton through suspension but will likely return to the side against Crystal Palace.
For Roy Hodgson, his Eagles squad has been affected by injury right throughout the campaign, which remains the case here.
However with some players unlikely to be offered new deals, there may be questions as to whether some of those in the treatment room will play for the club again before the season is out.
Crystal Palace v Aston Villa is a 12pm kick off on Sunday 16th May.
