Brazil beat Spain in extra time to clinch Gold
Toffee frontman Richarlison has bagged himself a gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics.
But had he been more accurate, he could have grabbed a goal and made the game comfortable against a spirited Spain side, with him hitting the bar and missing a penalty in normal time.
But the boys from Brazil settled it in extra time when substitute Malcolm broke free to score the winner, giving them their second gold title in as many Olympics. It comes as a welcome result following the disappointment of the defeat to Argentina in the Copa America.
Back on Merseyside, Richarlison’s teammates lost their final warm-up game of the season 4-0 away to Manchester United on a dismal afternoon. In related news, the corresponding fixture in the Premier League has been moved to a lunchtime fixture on Saturday, October 2nd for broadcast purposes.
