Newcastle’s miserable run in the Premier League is finally over after Steve Bruce’s side picked up a massive 2-0 win at Everton.

The Magpies have looked a shadow of themselves in recent weeks but a crucial second half brace from Callum Wilson should now ease the pressure on Bruce.

It was the hosts that did edge a scrappy first half hour with Yerry Mina heading over and Richarlison’s weak effort stopped by Karl Darlow.

However, despite struggling to make any real early impact on Merseyside, the Magpies did waste the best chance of the first 45.

Ryan Fraser’s whipped corner found Wilson free inside the box, but England star Jordan Pickford reacted brilliantly to keep out his header.

That lack of cutting edge continued at both ends after the break, with Wilson scuffing a chance on the counter and Darlow confidently denied Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

But with the Magpies in the mood to forget their recent poor form it is always likely that Bruce’s men would find a way through.

And it was to be star man Wilson that played hero role with 15 to play as he got up highest to power home Jonjo Shelvey’s corner.

The former Bournemouth man wasn’t finished there as he made the game absolutely safe in added time by lashing home Jamal Lewis’ cross.

Full Time from Goodison Park it’s Everton 0 Newcastle 2
