Newcastle have picked up their first away Premier League win since the opening day thanks to a late 2-0 victory at Crystal Palace.
Three points for the Magpies ends poor run on the road for Steve Bruce, with late strikes from Joelinton and Callum Wilson securing a crucial three points.
Neither side created much in poor opening half hour in South London, with Joelinton’s long range strike testing Vicente Guaita.
Palace did slowly edge themselves into the game before the break, with Eberechi Eze and Jeff Schlupp both denied by Karl Darlow.
That sense of frustration continued for both teams after the restart, before Palace missed a huge chance to take the lead.
Christian Benteke shook off two Newcastle defender to connect with Patrick van Aanholt’s cross but his header was well stopped by Darlow.
That let off opened the door for Newcastle, and Wilson raced on Joelinton’s pass to expertly slot past Guaita.
And the Brazilian got the goal his hard work deserved in added time as his deflected wrongfooted Guaita and sealed the win for Bruce.
