Newcastle have suffered a massive FA Cup giant killing as League One side Cambridge United sealed a fairy tale 1-0 win at St. James.

Kieran Trippier’s debut was the big pre game story for Newcastle but the England star made a start to forget on Tyneside.

Newcastle did look to impose themselves in the opening stages but Cambridge keeper Dimitar Mitov produced an incredible stop from Jacob Murphy.

And with the Magpies unable to edge it after the restart the tie flipped on five key minutes in the second period.

Murphy’s fine finish was ruled out by the narrowest of VAR calls before Joe Ironside popped up to force Cambridge in front.

Newcastle did carve out one more chance to win it, as the incredible Mitov kept out Joelinton.

But in the end there was no denying Cambridge a famous famous win.
